Animal Prints

Animal print is my favorite color. I consider it a neutral, and like great neutrals, an animal print can be added to most outfits. But my love of animal prints has moved on from leopard and cheetah prints to prints featuring the silhouettes and images of the animals themselves. Here are some literal animal prints that I want for late summer/fall.

elephant print leggings, Urban Outfitters legging $39

If you pay that much for leggings, does it automatically qualify them as pants?

elephant print scarf, Gap, $29.95

I love elephants.

Zebra scarf, ModCloth, $23.99

I got this scarf for Christmas, but I love it times a million.

Penguin dress, Lulu’s, $31

Ram bangle, J.Crew, $95

2012 It’s the future: resolutions and recommendations

New Year’s resolutions are for housewives and little girls. So I’m not going to make any. I have goals all year round that include getting into really, really good shape and getting awesome grades. So the same goals I always have then.

So on to recommendations then.

If someone could recommend a way to be happy with the clothes I have, and learn how to not constantly troll Forever21 for potential new clothes, it would be greatly appreciated. Here are some items I want:

So cute. Love the pattern, not sure about the tiers, I’d have to see it in person.

Love x a million. They seem super 90s to me, but I don’t have that much of a recollection of that decade (if you remember it you weren’t there, man).

I’ve never owned a halter dress before. That’s a lie I have a Rodarte for Target dress that I’ve worn like twice. But this is so perfect for the summer, going out or whatever. Someone invite me somewhere cool so I can wear this!

Also I recommend that any guy wear a denim shirt. It’s literally the best look ever. I’m obsessed with it (see previous post on denim shirts).

I’ve decided that I’m going to be more adventurous sartorially. Not to a personal style blog, I wear crazy shit that looks stupid because I’m so trendy level, but I’m going to wear things that I like and think look good without worrying about what other people think. I’m only in college for three semesters, so I only have a year and a half left of being able to wear pretty much anything on a daily basis. Here’s to expanding beyond my usual outfits. But that goal is also the reason why I want new clothes. Catch-22!

I recommend that anyone remotely interested in fashion watch The Rachel Zoe Project and It’s a Brad, Brad World. They are both hilarious and make me want to chuck all my career plans and try to work in fashion.

I die. RZ makes me want to wear a maxi dress, six inch heels, faux (or real, swhatevs) fur vest/coat, and tons of gold jewelry. It’s a lewk.
Love him.
P.S. best non-fashion related reality show not on Bravo (love me some Top Chef not Top Scallop)? My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. I could watch it all day, no joke.
2012 come at me, brah.

New Year’s Dresses

I’m hoping to be in NYC over New Year’s, so I’ve been looking online for some options. Obviously Forever21 is the limit of my budget.

I like this dress in theory, but I’m not sure of where the top layer would hit on me. Potentially at my widest point aka not cute.

Semi-cute. But like the majority of items on F21, there’s just something a little off. In this case, the sequins. I wish it was all-over instead of the weird squiggly pattern that reminds me of germs under the microscope. Science! (and it’s $32 which is a little more than I’m willing to spend at Forevs for cheaply made clothing)

My favorite part of this dress is that it’s $11.50. Sorry child workers! Plus, I think I could accessorize it to make it more over-the-top new years-y.

This dress combines my two favorite things in the world: leopard print and velvet.

Of course, this would be my coat for the night.
